Regular and Consistent Salt Therapy is most beneficial to ease respiratory symptoms!
Every experience is different and it depends on the type and severity of your condition.
Based on research for chronic respiratory and dermatological conditions such as asthma, bronchitis, sinusitis, allergies and psoriasis, it is strongly recommended to complete 12 to 25 sessions, preferably within 4-8 weeks. Individual conditions vary based on type and severity, therefore each experience is different. You may feel some improvement after one session, but a series of treatments is best for longer-term results. After a series of treatments your breathing will become easier and symptoms such as sneezing, coughing, and shortness of breath will improve noticeably. People also come for treatments as a preventative measure. Salt therapy is most prevalent in Russia and Eastern Europe, where doctors have routinely prescribed it for over a decade. While every session is beneficial, multiple sessions allow most people to experience a period of remission from their conditions.
Just think about this… You can’t go to the gym once and walk out with the perfect abs and body!!!
For mild conditions such as colds, flu symptoms, ear infections or other temporary respiratory discomforts its recommended to have 3-8 sessions within 1-2 weeks, once fever has subsided.
Below is a list of conditions and the suggested number of consecutive sessions, as used in Russian clinics and health spas. These numbers should not be treated as prescribed medical standards, but rather as suggested guidelines for treatment based on research (see citation below). Visitors to Kilkenny Salt Therapy should be attentive to their own unique needs/conditions and make decisions about treatment based on the way their bodies respond.

Children’s Salt Therapy:
Children are more prone to breathing problems because their respiratory system is not fully developed before the age of 9. Large particles of pollution can reach their lungs because their bodies have difficulty filtering them out. The narrowness of nasal passageways in children and their higher risk of picking up viruses contributes to these frequent episodes. As our environment has become increasingly polluted, there has been an uptick in respiratory problems for both adults and children. Asthma accounts for more hospitalizations in children than any other chronic illness.
The good news is that children respond quickly to salt room treatments, which are 100% drug free and non-invasive. Whether your child is suffering from allergies, an ear infection, frequent colds, or asthma, salt therapy helps reduce inflammation, open clogged passageways, loosen up mucous, and kill germs and bacteria. In addition, it will boost your child’s immune system. Children don’t even realize that they are receiving a therapeutic treatment as they are passively inhaling micro-salt particles as they play in a “sandbox” play area setting. Sessions will be offered individually as well as scheduled “play dates” or “mommy and me” group sessions.
Adult Salt Therapy:
The adult salt room is a quiet, relaxing room providing Halotherapy to adults. This room will seat up to 6 adults comfortably for a 45 minute session. This room is available to be rented out to groups looking for a unique meeting space (book clubs, bible study groups, mom’s day out, senior citizen groups, etc).
The benefits of breathing in salt therapy include:
• Improved lung capacity
• Reduced respiratory allergies
• Detoxification of your bodily systems
• Helps reduce germs
• Decreases severity of skin conditions including eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis
• Decreases severity of chronic respiratory illnesses including asthma, emphysema, bronchitis
• Reduces chest congestion, cough, sore throat sinusitis
• Decreases depression
• Improves sleep
Salt Therapy is not a substitute for medical treatment and diagnosis of any health condition. It is recommended that you seek medical advice relating to your health problems; do not neglect regular medical check-ups; do not change or stop taking your medication and treatment without consulting the physician. Patients with high blood pressure need doctor’s consent. Pregnant women need doctor’s consent.
